Company HISTORY

DermTec, launched in 1992 by the visionary John M. Brewer, Jr., M.D., has been a beacon in the dermatological landscape, originating from the heart of Buford. Dr. Brewer, an alumnus of Duke University Medical School with advanced training from Tulane to Harvard and Oxford, set out to revolutionize dermatological care. The company made its mark with the Brewer disposable curette, a tool indispensable for skin care professionals and wound centers.

His pioneering research in Buford on cosmetic peels for acne patients in the '60s laid the groundwork for the cosmetic dermatology field. In the '90s, Dr. Brewer, with Buford-based dermatologists and industry experts, including his son William Brewer, Sr., co-founded Herald Pharmacal, the parent company of M.D. Formulations and M.D. Forte. This venture was instrumental in shaping the cosmeceutical industry, influencing today's advanced skincare products and professional skin care selections.

Under William Brewer's guidance, the DermTec brand, known for its anti-wrinkle solutions and skin repair creams, was acquired in 2015, continuing the tradition of offering top-tier, medically formulated skincare. These products, synonymous with Buford's commitment to skin rejuvenation, are a testament to the Brewers' enduring impact on the industry.

In 2019 the DermTec products were created based on the Science of Skin.
